What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Everyone in my family played football and so I feel like I was destined to play football.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
In JUCO, we were playing a game, and we were on the 40-yard line, and I took it into the end zone for a touchdown and the opposing team had 12 men on the field. Starting my first game at Morningside I had a game where I had 2 touchdowns from the goal line and those were both shown on the ABC 9 local news.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Everyone has their own story and in 2019 my town was shot up and I’m looking to get my family out of there and show people that they can do whatever you put your mind to and that the work is never done.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Derrick Henry, in 2015 I went to a camp, and he was my position coach, and I won best running back in that camp and I would love to catch up with him and get more advice from him.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My Mom, because she’s a hard worker and instilled that in me from a young age and she taught me whatever you have to do to get through trials and tribulations do it through God and hard work and you’ll be very successful in life.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
Gun formation, because a running back is very versatile in that and you have to pass block as a running back and you can never tell if you are running with the ball, going out on a route or pass blocking and it’s a very versatile formation that you can do a lot of stuff in.
What should we know about Trent Lane the person?
I’m a hard worker, dedicated to this game, I’m a leader and I will never stop working to perfect my craft each and every day.
What stands out about your film the most?
How physical I run and every time I see someone in front of me, I want to punish them like Derrick Henry, and I know how to truck people, have speed and be elusive. And from my running back coach at Hutchinson community college, he told me to always run to score and he instilled that in me and to make big plays.
How do you handle challenges on the football field?
If there are any challenges on the field, I watch film, ask coaches for advice and always be coachable.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A hard worker and a player dedicated to the game and someone that eats, sleeps and breathes football that will do anything to be successful in this game.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
The brotherhood, creating bonds with every teammate you have and your brothers are going to fight for you every single day and I will do the same.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Gregory Clark from Morningside University, he’s underrated but he’s a hard worker willing to do whatever is needed to help the team be successful.
