LaCarea Pleasant-Johnson Might Be the Most Underrated CB in the 2025 NFL Draft

LaCarea Pleasant-Johnson is the type of guy every locker room needs—tough, humble, and relentlessly dedicated. Standing at 6’1” and 190 pounds, the Southern Utah cornerback has quietly been carving out his own path, letting his work ethic and talent speak for themselves. And after a standout showing at his Pro Day, he’s officially put the league on notice.
He posted a 7.19 Relative Athletic Score (RAS)—a number that backs up what the film already shows. With a blazing 4.41 40-yard dash and elite 33-inch arms, LaCarea checks every box physically.
His quickness and burst jump off the page, too—his 1.56 10-yard split and 4.19 short shuttle reflect the kind of twitch and reaction time you want in a lockdown corner. He’s smooth in man coverage, disciplined in his technique, and he knows how to stay glued to receivers through the route.
But what really sets him apart goes deeper than the numbers.
LaCarea’s journey started in Yakima, Washington, and it’s been anything but easy. He began his college career in Utah, spent time at UNLV, and eventually landed in Southern Utah, where he found his stride and became a playmaker. In 2023, he appeared in 10 games for the Thunderbirds, tallying 26 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and his first career interception in a win over Western Illinois. He also showed up big in the moment with 6 tackles against BYU—one of his best games.
Before all that, he was a standout at Mountain Pointe High School in Arizona, where he was named 2019 6A Cornerback of the Year and ranked as a top-15 recruit in the state. And if football’s in his DNA, it makes sense—his cousin, Eddie Pleasant, played in the NFL, and he’s also the cousin of NBA player MarJon Beauchamp and nephew of Hall of Famer Tony Dungy.
But none of that has gone to his head. Coaches rave about LaCarea’s maturity, leadership, and attention to detail. He’s locked in on and off the field, majoring in sociology and constantly learning the game. He brings professionalism, a team-first mindset, and the kind of attitude you can build a culture around.
After years of grinding, LaCarea Pleasant-Johnson is finally getting the recognition he deserves. He’s long, fast, and fearless—and he’s just getting started. NFL teams looking for a high-upside corner with grit and growth potential need to take a serious look.
