2025 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Jaden Voisin, Safety, South Alabama
Explore the journey of Jaden Voisin, a top NFL Draft prospect known for his ball skills and instincts as a safety.

Jaden Voisin, a standout safety from South Alabama, is making waves as a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Known for his ball skills, instincts, and leadership, Voisin has been a force in the Jaguars’ secondary throughout his college career. From game-changing interceptions to consistent preparation off the field, he’s a player that NFL teams are watching closely. I caught up with Jaden to talk about his journey, mindset, and what separates him from the rest of this year’s defensive backs.

What separates you from other defensive backs in this year’s draft class?

What separates me from other guys in this year’s draft is my ball skills and my instincts. I’m able to make more plays than others because I’m more able to detect what’s happening in front of me. What makes me stand out as well is that I catch the ball when it’s thrown at me—I always catch the ones that are supposed to be caught.

You’ve been praised for your ball skills and instincts — how have those traits evolved over your career, and how do you use them to impact games?

The more that I’ve played and practiced, the better each of those skills has gotten. These skills helped me in games because I can see plays happening before they happen, and they allow me to use my high-level ball skills to make those plays.

When you look back on your time at South Alabama, what moments define your legacy there?

The moments I go back to were when I was a freshman and I blocked a punt against Texas State, which feels like the start of my career. In 2022, I had 17 tackles and an interception against Southern Miss. In 2023, I had one of the best games of my career against our biggest opponent, Oklahoma State. And in 2024, I broke the interception record at South Alabama with a pick against Louisiana.

What’s your mindset when you line up across from a top receiver? How do you approach that challenge?

I bring on the competition. I feel that I will win every rep against that person. I’m a competitor, so whoever is lined up across from me, I approach them all the same way.

Who helped shape your football IQ — was there a coach, mentor, or experience that took your game to the next level?

I feel that a lot of failure brought on most of that. I had to fail a few times to see things that I couldn’t see before. Then after that, I made sure not to make those same mistakes. A few coaches who’ve improved me as a player are my position coaches, like Corey Batoon and Will Windham.

Describe the feeling of making a big play on defense — whether it’s a pick, a pass breakup, or a huge hit. What goes through your head in that moment?

It’s always an adrenaline rush. You always go through a game and wonder when your time is going to come to make a play for your team, and when you do, it’s just excitement.

You’re known as a leader on and off the field — what does leadership mean to you, and how do you set the tone for your teammates?

I feel that I’m someone who will always lead by example. I feel that doing things visually is more important than just words. I’ve always prided myself on doing things the right way and making sure my teammates know that it’s the standard. By making plays constantly throughout my career, it shows that these ways work.

If we pulled up film, what’s one play you’d want NFL scouts to rewind and watch again — and why?

I would want them to watch my interception against Texas State this year. It really shows how good my instincts are and that it truly separates me from other players.

What’s your approach to studying film? Are there certain things you always look for in opponents?

I’ve had really good coaches show me how to break down film. Film is the most important information going into game week. Finding tendencies and ways you can make the QB throw interceptions is what I always look for first.

Is there an NFL player — past or present — that you model your game after or feel you’d play well alongside?

I would say, Tyrann Mathieu. We’re both players who aren’t the tallest but have elite instincts and tend to always be around the ball.

Football aside, what’s something people don’t always see about you that you’re proud of?

I got my business degree in marketing. I told myself I would get my business degree before I came to college, so that is something I’m very proud of.

What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned through adversity — either on the field or in life?

I’ve learned that you have to have some type of adversity to make you a better player and person. Failure always helps bring on the most success.

What’s a goal you’ve set for yourself at the next level, beyond just making a roster?

Be someone who the whole locker room and organization can rely on. I’ve always prided myself on the team’s success over mine.

When you’re not training or in the film room, how do you recharge or stay grounded?

Just hanging out at home or practicing my golf swing. I like to always find ways to stay active, even if it’s a recovery day because I feel like I’m most relaxed when I’m doing things I love.

What message would you send to NFL teams considering drafting you — why are you the guy they want in their locker room?

They want me in their locker room because I will do anything it takes to make the team better. I will always put the team first and give my 110% effort all the time.

Jaden Voisin has shown that he’s more than just a playmaker — he’s a leader, a student of the game, and someone who elevates those around him. With his instincts, ball skills, and relentless drive, he’s poised to be an impact player at the next level. NFL teams looking for a safety with the complete package should have Jaden Voisin high on their radar.
