Titans GM Mike Borgonzi says everything is still on the table with 1st pick, but he should draft a QB NOW

The Tennessee Titans were deep at the Miami Hurricanes Pro Day to watch Cam Ward, and while there is a lot of smoke the Titans will take Cam Ward, they need to figure it out soon. New GM Mike Borgonzi said everything is still on the table, but I feel they need to pull the trigger on a new QB.
“I would say everything is still on the table,” Borgonzi said from Miami’s Pro Day. “From the beginning I said I wanted to go through the whole process, and I felt like our priority was to build the offensive line first, and we added (tackle) Dan Moore and (guard) Kevin Zeitler.
“Now we’re going through the process here with the college quarterbacks. But I’d say everything is still on the table right now.”
Here are some key reasons the Titans need to draft Cam Ward!
Building for the Future: Quarterback is arguably the most important position on the field. A young, talented quarterback can be the cornerstone of a franchise for years to come. Drafting one early allows the team to start building around that player, potentially making them a long-term leader and face of the franchise. If Ward was to struggle early the Titans GM will get time to develop him. If he was smart he would start Will Levis and then bench him mid year if he is not performing. This gives the team more time to build.
Immediate Impact: A quarterback with elite potential (think Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow) can make an immediate impact. If the team is in need of a new signal-caller, getting a player who is ready to start quickly can help the team become more competitive faster. Every scout I talk to says Cam Ward is the most pro ready quarterback in the draft, so give him a shot.
Potential Cost Savings: Rookie contracts, especially for quarterbacks, are a lot more team-friendly compared to veteran contracts. If the GM drafts a quarterback early and they become a star, it could provide financial flexibility in the long term, allowing the team to build around them without being burdened by an expensive quarterback contract. The Tians spent some money in free agency on their O-Line but this gives them more flexibility to add some help at the playmaker positions.
Paving the Way for Future Success: A good quarterback elevates the entire offense. A new GM might see the draft as an opportunity to shape the entire offensive philosophy by selecting a QB who fits their vision for the team. It could lead to drafting complementary players (like offensive linemen or wide receivers) in later rounds to build around the QB. Ward will be better than Levis, that is my prediction, and no GM wants to come in and not have his signal caller, look at the Giants. Both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will be fired if it does not work out for them this year, and that is because they passed on a QB.
Laying the Groundwork for Stability: The NFL is a quarterback-driven league. Teams that don’t have a consistent, reliable QB often struggle to find success. A GM drafting a quarterback early is making a proactive step toward ensuring the team’s stability and long-term competitiveness at the most vital position. Just look at the Bills, they went from getting spanked year in and year out, until landing Josh Allen. Shoot the Chiefs were the same way before Mahomes.
All in all, drafting a quarterback early signals confidence in building the team’s future, both on and off the field. If the GM believes there is a top-tier QB available, it can be the foundation of their strategy moving forward. Borgonzi, do not mess this up, get your guy!
