What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I decided I wanted to be a football player from a very young age. My father saw a sign posted for kids’ football with the local rep team in the summer, when he came home to tell me he signed me up I was excited. During the first practice I was unstoppable. My father showed me videos of Barry Sanders beforehand, I was inspired, his ability to make defenders miss was how I wanted to play. Juking, spinning, jumping over defenders, it all made me love the game from a young age. Since then, I grew my passion to keep going and achieving the next level; not letting down my younger self and my goal to become a pro football player.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

I have a lot of favorite moments throughout my football career so far. Throughout the years playing on big stages, at AT&T Stadium representing Canada, on TSN All-Star Game, to playing in university in front of thousands of fans. I have created a lot of memories from being around my teams, becoming brothers with many, and I cherish all those moments. After games, seeing my family coming on the field, having my little cousins running to me, everyone is happy and proud of me were some of my all-time favorite moments.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

As a football player going forward, I’m looking to achieve greatness. Taking in all the knowledge and experiences around me to create my own path. Learning from the best to always keep improving in all aspects of my game to become the best football player I can be and be a true value to the team.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

If I could hang out with any football player past or present for a day it would have to be Deion Sanders. When I was younger, the first time I saw Deion was on the NFL Network through the documentary, on Deion “Prime Time” Sanders. Since watching that video, I was inspired, he brought a different style to the game, the swagger and confidents was contagious. When I played DB in rep ball and high school, I played with his kind of style. Throughout the years, I enjoy watching his coaching career and other documentaries about his life. He has a lot of knowledge for the game and in life, speaking with him would be a dream. His famous quote I would recite before every game; “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good.”

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My father inspires me the most, by encouraging me to become the best football player I can be, and also to become a great man in all aspects of life. Since I was a child, he has always taught me how to carry myself in a professional manner, and to “respect all but fear none”. As an athlete he taught me how to train and what it takes be an athlete. From a young age, he had me training in the weight room, running long distance or hills in the morning, pushing me to always beat my pervious times; and as he would always say, pushing the envelope in the weight room. I can always call my father, and he will always have an answer for me; I’m very grateful to have a father like him in my life.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

My favorite offensive scheme is a high tempo offense that is creative, with the ability to use their players all over the field and finding different ways in getting their players the ball. As a slot back, having the ability to add in the box for run game, by either blocking, running the ball, or screen passes. Getting playmakers in space and let them ball.

What should we know about Nathan Falconi the person?

Who am I as a person, I am a respectful, active, competitive and a creative individual. I was raised in a close family, to always respect others and do the right thing. I consider myself a family person, as a football player you sacrifice all of time away from family, on my free time I enjoy spending time with family and close friends, enjoy each other’s company and what life has to offer. God, family, football is my life.

What stands out about your film the most?

In my film the most impressive element of my game that stands out is my elusiveness. I have a strong ability to make big plays when the ball is in my hands. Once the ball is in my hands, I have the ability to make defenders miss in open field and in close encounters. Before catching the ball, I have a sense/feel of when the defender is going to be so when I catch the ball I know where to go so the defender will miss the tackle.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Handling challenges both in my life and on the football field always comes down to me taking a moment to understand what is going wrong. If I don’t have the answer, then I talk with my father or coaches to help me come up with a plan and get through any challenges.

What would a team get in a player like you?

The team will get a football player, who is an athlete, smart, and competitive. On the field, I’m an athlete who knows the game; my athletic ability and knowledge of the game can make me an asset. Understanding concepts as a whole and how they fit against the defense makes me versatile. I can play any position at a high-level, whether that is in the slot, wideout or in the backfield. I have a strong ability to see the field when the ball is in my hands, I pride myself on always making the first defender miss and an eye for the endzone. My passion and love for this game is always trying to find ways to improve myself in all aspects; on the field, in the film room, in the weightroom, nutrition plan, and recovery plan so I can always to ready and always put my best forward at all times.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

I have a lot to love for the game of football. The process and preparation that goes into getting ready for the game, then the day of the game itself, brings out a lot of different emotions, that makes the game so exciting. Football also has the ability to bring family together. Throughout my football career my parents have attended every single one of my games, each year more and more family members come to the game; for this I am so grateful. Some family members who I haven’t seen in years, have reconnected, coming out to support me. Seeing all of my family together and catching up after the game at dinner brings a lot of joy.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Throughout my career I have played with a lot of underrated players that don’t get the opportunity to showcase their skills. But one particular player who had a lot of challenges but is one of the top true athletes on our team, is Russel Weir. In the past season he was put in many different positions, QB, WR, and returner. Russel excelled in all, but when the game time came, he wouldn’t see the field. When his number was called those few times, he creates big plays for the team. I’m excited to see what he does next season.
