What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I started playing football when I was 7 years old and my father was a huge influence on giving the sport of football a chance. Funny enough, after my first season I actually wanted to quit but my dad told me no. Shout out to pops for teaching me the meaning of being relentless at an early age.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
If I’m being completely honest I have admired what football has taught about myself more than anything. I have had several moments through out my career where it has tested my mindset and outlook on life itself. I also hold a deep love for the relationships I have built. I have met some outstanding people who have helped build the person I am today.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I’m looking to prove to myself what is possible rather than what I thought was impossible. Football has been a tremendous part of my life and I’d love to be able to continue doing what I never thought I’d be able to do. I want to achieve what only 2 percent of college athletes do. My dream is to play football for as long as I can at the next level.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Definitely Brian Dawkins. Ever since I was a kid I would watch a hype video of him on game-day. His ability to change into his alter ego made me obsessed with the game of football. Humble Christian man, to weapon X. I actually had a sticker on the back of my helmet in little league that said “weapon X”.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom and dad would be my biggest inspiration. My dad has really shaped me and shown me what it means to be a man. His hard work and dedication is nothing but admiring to me. Every aspect of life, he has shown me through example what it means to never give up and to be a savage. His love and care is something I will forever cherish. He is my Mufasa and the king in my life. My mom has been the sweetest soul who has shown me what a mother should be to their kids. Her kindness and selflessness has never been unnoticed by me and others. She’s my biggest sweetheart and someone I admire everyday. She’s inspired me to be kind no matter what.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
As an offensive linemen I really do not have a favorite scheme. I just want to run the ball and open up a hole for whoever is running the ball. I love watching my RB’s win. Doesn’t matter to me how it gets done, as long as it gets done.
What should we know about Wyatt Bowles the person?
People should know that I am an extremely humble and grateful individual. I have a passion for working harder than others behind closed doors. I have fallen in love with gods creations and find myself enjoying the mountains more than most. I love being able to pour into others and create long last relationships.
What stands out about your film the most?
I would say my athletic abilities stand out the most in my film. Being able to contain in the pass game and dominate in the run block is important to me and shows a lot in my film.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I handle challenges with a grain of salt. Being able to comprehend the situation and analyze what the best outcome should/could be. I am able to reflect back on my own experiences and learn to adapt quickly.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get someone who is reliable and dependable. It helps me work harder when I know I’m being depended on. I think a team would get a guy who is extremely kind off the field and a savage on the field.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love the game of football due to its physical and mental challenges. I admire its character building as well as its opportunities to help others. I love how the offensive line is the only position in any sport where our soul purpose is to protect the guy with the ball. We are the first to be blamed and last to be admired.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
I don’t have a particular player in mind, but I do have a coach who has completely changed my life. Coach Cooper Bassett is the most underrated coach in college football. His love for his players and his ability to work in the fine details has changed my perspective on what a coach should be. He is all around a tremendous role model to me and someone I will forever look up to. Shout out to coach Coop! Love you.
