Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Kerby Joseph Lead Lions to Historic Win Over Packers

In a strong showing, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 18 of 22 pass attempts (81.8%) for one touchdown and no interceptions, finishing the game with a 109.3 passer rating. His performance, alongside a touchdown reception by wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and an interception return for a touchdown by safety Kerby Joseph, propelled the Lions to a 24-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Goff’s accuracy has been exceptional in recent weeks. Over his last six games, he boasts an impressive 82.8 completion percentage (106 of 128 attempts), breaking a long-standing record previously held by Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who recorded a completion percentage of 78.3% (137 of 175) in 2008 with the Indianapolis Colts. Goff’s achievement now marks the highest completion percentage in a six-game span within a season in NFL history, with a minimum of 100 attempts.

Moreover, Goff’s performance has translated into remarkable efficiency, as he holds a passer rating of 140.1 over these last six games. This figure surpasses Brock Purdy’s 138.1 rating in 2023 with the San Francisco 49ers, making Goff’s rating the highest in a six-game stretch within a season, also with a minimum of 100 attempts.

St. Brown has also made history with his contributions, accumulating 363 receptions for 4,052 yards and 27 touchdowns in his career. He has now become the fourth player in NFL history to reach at least 350 receptions, 4,000 receiving yards, and 25 touchdown receptions in their first four seasons, joining elite company including Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Thomas.

On the defensive side, Joseph’s interception return for a touchdown added to the Lions’ momentum. He is now the sixth player since 2000 to record an interception in six of his team’s first eight games of a season, joining notable players like Corey Chavous (2003 with Minnesota), Trevon Diggs (2021 with Dallas), Doug Evans (2001 with Carolina), Xavier McKinney (2024 with Green Bay), and Brian Russell (2003 with Minnesota).

The Lions’ impressive win against the Packers, fueled by Goff’s precision passing, St. Brown’s playmaking, and Joseph’s defensive prowess, highlights their growing strength as a formidable contender this season.
