Player Summary:

A offensive guard with a big, even proportioned body, thick legs and short arms that has solid AA, that played in a primarily spread offense with hints of air raid.

First thing you see on film is his size is bigger than his teammates and compared to SEC players. Against the pass rush, he absorbs the initial contact and shows a good recovery followed by a solid anchor spot. He handles power rushers with his good play strength and good body balance to absorb and anchor in place. Against stunts, he uses his eyes to follow what the rushers are doing, able to slide the first rushers into another blocker and readjust to the stunt rusher. Has active eyes against stunts as well as extended plays. Knows how to use his weight in run plays and is able to drive forward using his strength. Is fast and active when blocking at the second level, able to move up to the next level with surprising speed. Shows competitive toughness and a hint of nastiness in his blocks, blocking through the whistle and willing to block a defender into the ground.

Shows adequate bend and does not get as low as his teammates for comparison. Has short arms that lead to him having to lean too far forward and be able to land powerful hands at the POA. His adequate lateral movement really shows when he is a puller as he is not quick to pull and is late on his blocking assignments.

Scheme Fit:

Best as guard in a spread offense where he can utilize his power, balance, and IQ.

Power Statement:

His strength, balance, and ability to be useful in both the run and pass game is at a level high enough for the NFL, has some minor technique issues that can be cleaned up with proper coaching and short arms puts him at a disadvantage. With his talent, he can start his career as a serviceable rotational player with a solid floor and ceiling.
