Player Summary:

Patrick possesses a thick, stocky and firm frame. He is a dependable player that has been able to stay on the field. He stands below-average in NFL frame per measurements. He lines up predominantly at the RE, and sometimes at LE on a 3-4 defense. Additionally, on pass rush situations he lines up even at DT/NT, lining up in a 4-point stance anytime he can. He wins with good lateral quickness, awareness, and a firm anchor. In zone runs, he looks to use his speed to slice the OL and cut through the backfield. He possesses good contact balance boasted by his solid anchor and is quick to react to the snap. He also shows that he halters passes with quick twitch reaction getting his hand up in the passing lane. He also provides good pursuit against the run with his lateral speed. He struggles with his UOH. He leads and depends on his hand movements, and he has little techniques or counters vs runs or passes. Against zone runs, his quick feet are not fast enough to prevent a guard from grasping him. Once engaged, he struggles to shed and is often stifled. Against power runs, his lack of functional strength limits his push effectiveness and is often displaced by doubles. He is an adequate tackler, and he is unable to bring down a ball carrier when he can disengage from a lineman. When pass-rushing, he depends solely on his feet, however he only has a swim/rip move and it brings limited success. At DE, he often requires additional space to round around the tackle and lacks direct up field effectiveness. While he plays with effort, he could use some additional intensity to accompany his smaller size. He is marginal as a bull-rusher cannot generate a push against more powerful collegiate linemen.

Scheme Fit:

Fits best in a 4-3 DE as he would have less doubles to compete against.

Power Statement:

Patrick Jenkins has the mental fortitude and agility to adjust to the next level, his biggest flaws are his functional strength and technique, both of which can be addressed, and he continues to show improvement throughout his 2024 campaign.
