Player Summary:

Scandrett is entering his senior year at Eastern Michigan after being a two-year starter from 2022 to 2023. Scandrett has a good size and length. Lean but muscular build upper half, that could benefit from added mass. Slender lower half. Above-average play speed. Does not have top-end speed but wouldn’t say he is slow. Aligns at the FS spot and roams the deep middle. Above-average closing speed and range. Good tackler who will wrap up for tackles. Will come downhill and deliver a decent blow. Has some pop behind his pads. Average ability to shed blocks when engaged. High in his pedal, plant, and driveability is an average, slow transition. Good burst, driving on the ball downhill. When the ball is in the air, tends to play the man more than the ball. Above-average ability to flip his hips and COD, some stiffness not terminal. Moderate makeup speed when beat. Above-average instincts and good play recognition diagnose the play fast and trigger. Plays disciplined, not allowing the play to get behind him. Moderate ability to play man in the safety position. Physical defender, high pad level can be an issue at times. At times shows questionable effort. Played on the kickoff and punt return teams.

Scheme Fit:

SS, in the box, that can roll and disguise coverages.

Power Statement:

Overall, Scandrett is an above-average DS. I think he would fit better playing more in the box closer to the LOS due to his questionable top-end speed and stiffness in his hips when flipping and moving laterally. He shows physicality when coming downhill as a secure tackler. He’s an above-average pass defender, with good ball skills but plays the man more than the ball when it’s in the air. Above-average ability to read the QBs eyes and react. Not a lot of juice in his game, questionable motor. Adds special teams value.
