Player Summary:

The 5th Yr. Sr. and one-year starter in 2023 was a 4-time state champion high school wrestler in North Dakota (166-0 in competition). Starts as a 0T through 2T NT in NEUN’s versatile 3-3-5 defense and projects as a 3-4 NT/4-3 DT at the next level. The frame is composed of good height, above-average weight, and ordinary length. He’s a very dense, pudgy individual who has an upper half that’s as thick and sturdy as his meaty, yet assless foundation. AA is average and includes solid strength, decent balance, average initial burst, marginal twitch, and COD. Gets off the ball ordinarily due to average snap anticipation and initial burst. The initial pad level is solid, shoots out low, and maintains height with sufficient vertical bend and flexibility. Against the run, he’s ordinary. Primarily serves as a block-occupying, space-eating cog. Stalemates OCs and OGs decently at the initial POA with sufficient shock and power in his hands. Anchors decently well and balanced against individual blocks and double teams from average size/strength IOL. Utilizes his above-average natural density and solid strength to lean into OL’s chest and clog space sufficiently. The ability to disengage from blocks is normal due to regular arm length and decently violent UOH. Does an applicable job wrangling and engulfing solid-sized RBs within arm’s length with his good size. Against the pass, he’s marginal. Does a decent job pushing the pocket vertically utilizing his dense frame and solid strength to press into, and decently walk back, ordinarily size/strength OGs and OCs. Plays with a respectable motor for a big man against the run and the pass as he pursues until the whistle. Despite being a sufficient space eater due to his stature, his impactive range against the run and the pass is below average. Following his initial burst, sub-par twitch, speed, and COD affect his ability to mirror, redirect, and close to make plays against better athletes outside of arm’s length. His pass-rush toolbox is also below average.

Scheme Fit:

Early down 3-4 NT/4-3 DT.

Power Statement:

Pudgy, above-average-sized NT/DT who serves as a sufficiently strong and balanced space eater against the run. The ability to make plays against the run and the pass outside of his frame is marginal due to sub-par speed, COD, and twitch following his decent initial get-off.
