Player Summary:
Two-year starter. RS senior. Starts at LG. Has marginal height and looks slightly out of shape with heavy legs, but plays with high effort and makes it work and could be a legitimate diamond-in-the-rough. Average in pass protection and as a run blocker. Has good leg drive and plays with above-average balance, keeps feet anchored and stays off the ground. Good hand placement, strike timing, runs feet on contact, shows he can rework and replace his hands. Effective when blocking at the second level. Struggles to find color when pulling and has less-than-adequate foot speed, will overextend instead of keeping his base and playing within his frame, could improve in this area with time. In pass protection he is average. Shows ability to sustain oncoming rushers. Displays adequate ability to mirror rushers, use his length and neutralize oncoming DLs. Concern with below-average anchor strength; got walked back occasionally against better teams. Inconsistent with posture; sometimes bends at the waist instead of sitting on a stool. In both phases of the game, has an inconsistent first step, sometimes quick and sometimes late. Has big ankles and calves, could lose some weight. Despite his athletic deficiencies, he plays with high effort and is a good finisher.

Scheme Fit:
OG.

Power Statement:
Mehki is an average run blocker and pass protector.  Despite his lack of height and concerns with his frame (thick ankles/legs), he plays with good effort which overcomes his flaws in technique. He can improve by developing a better first step, playing with better posture, and finding and locating defenders when pulling.
