Player Summary:

Wilson, listed at 6’2 240 lbs, is a compact body-built tight end who can play multiple positions on the offensive side of the ball. Wilson often lines up in the H-back and Fullback position, giving his offense the ability to leave him on the field during personnel changes. Wilson is an Undersized TE at the next level per his measurables but has the lower body and grip strength to hold his own at the LOS vs bigger edge rushers. When aligned as the traditional Y, he does a good job firing off the ball in the run game effectively using his hands to gain leverage to finish his blocks. His fundamentals on the backside of run plays are on full display with his lateral movement effectively scoop-blocking the edge defenders. Wilson shows adequate foot quickness when blocking in Space by covering smaller defenders, often finishing his blocks with the defender on the ground. At the fullback and H-back positions, he shows solid FBI by processing blocks quickly on the run. In the passing game, he is attached or flexed in the slot in 2×2 and 3×1 sets, he shows solid athleticism when route running vs man or zone coverage. Wilson’s speed will not create separation when running his routes in man coverage, but he has the FBI to use leverage to position his body to make the short to intermediate catches. Wilson has solid hands after the catch shows good field awareness and will not look to be a magnet in space. With multiple vertical threats at the WR  position, his receiving numbers don’t jump off the page, but he was a key contributor as a blocker, helping lead his team to a 4th ranking in the Sun Belt with 172.0 yards per game on the ground. Wilson’s offensive utility makes him a valuable prospect.

Scheme Fit:

Pro set, 11,12, 21 personnel.

Power Statement:

Wilson’s undersized frame does not limit his ability to get the job done! He shows toughness and grit willing to finish blocks at multiple positions, His utility allows him to stay on the field at the next level, and he has the size and tools to also excel on special teams.
