What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I grew up in the Chicago area so my family and I watched the Bears a lot. Watching Devin Hester and his ability to change the game instantly made him my favorite player especially after watching him return that kick in the Super Bowl. I wanted to play football myself after watching that game and I’ve been playing ever since.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments as a player are seeing my teammates in that locker room day in and day out. The relationships I have made playing from the youth ball days all the way through college have been truly lifechanging and I now have so many friends for life.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I’m looking forward to continue to becoming a better player and helping my team win. I believe my best football is still ahead and I have the opportunity to help an NFL team to achieve their ultimate goal of a Super Bowl.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would choose Devin Hester because he was my favorite player for a long time growing up and I actually wore the number 23 because of him all the way into high school when it was available.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Both of my parents inspire me the most. Growing up with no siblings in the household, I always have had an extremely close relationship with my parents. They always took the time to take me to training and practices and also encouraged me to chase my dreams no matter what it was. They have never missed one of my football games in my entire career no matter how far the game was and without their support I would not be in the position I am today.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I believe that the best part of my game is my versatility to do everything on the field and play multiple positions. I have the ability to come into the box as a will linebacker and fill gaps in the run game as well as match up with speedy quick receivers lined up in the slot. I believe that I can fit into any scheme that a team needs me to because of these factors.

What should we know about Jordan Colbert the person?

I want people to know that I am very invested into making sure the people around me are taken care of. I love to put a smile on people’s faces with my jokes, but I also want to make sure that people’s problems get addressed and taken care of as well. I believe that mental health is something that is often ignored by society and I want to do my part to improve someone’s overall well being on a daily basis.

What stands out about your film the most?

My film shows the violence and passion that I play the game with. When I tackle someone I am trying to strike fear into the opponent for the rest of the game while at the same time encouraging my teammates to play with that same energy.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I have always been the underdog my entire life. So many people have counted me out. From being the 5’7 165 pound junior in high school on JV to being first team all conference with 14 Division 1 offers just a year later, God has always been my rock through it all. I have fostered a relationship with God from a very young age and it has carried me through to this very point today. I know God’s plan may not be the smoothest path, but it is the reason I am who I am today and I wouldn’t change one part of it all.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get a player who can do everything on the field that they need and virtually play every position, but also a great person off the field as well. I am just as passionate about my team and my teammates success as I am about mine. A team would also get a high football IQ player who can become the quarterback of a defense as well as elevate the players around me to become smarter football players as well.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

I love that nothing else matters in your life when you step in between those lines. No matter the hardships and difficulties you are facing in life, once you put on that helmet they all fade away and you can turn all your feelings into action.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Jarrett Martin is one of the most underrated players I’ve played with. He is a similar player as me with the versatility to do anything on the field with great instincts. Whether it’s a practice or a game, Jarrett is going to find his way to make an explosive play which isn’t always the easiest to do as a defensive player.
