Former Georgia football player convicted in connection for murdering a gas station clerk

Former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver Ahkil Crumpton has been indicted for a murder of a gas station employee and the gun now links him back to another unsolved homicide in Philadelphia.

Former UGA football player Ahkil Crumpton was convicted on one count of interference with commerce by attempted robbery and one count of false statements during the purchase of a firearm.

The former football player was convicted on the charges in connection to the deadly shooting of a RaceTrac clerk in Oconee County in 2021.

Elijah Wood, 23, was working the overnight shift at RaceTrac in Atlanta when a masked gunman walked into the store, pointed his handgun at Wood, and pulled the trigger.

In Athens, Crumpton was a wide receiver for the University of Georgia from 2017 to 2019. He played in 24 games in his career. The gun used in the crime was found to be used in a homicide in Philadelphia as well.
