Concerning NFL Injuries 2023

With the training camp taking place, injured players started appearing one by one. As a supporter, especially those planning on betting for this NFL season, following injury updates is crucial. Some of these injuries aren’t fatal, but there are concerning injuries that might lead the stars back to training fields. Here are several recent concerning injuries in the NFL training camp.

Kenneth Walker III

Kenneth Walker III was the second-round draft pick that emerged as a strong force in the backfield. There was a considerable expectation as to how he’ll play his role in this NFL season alongside Zach Charbonnet, who provided significant potential to the team’s future performances. However, things might not play out as planned when Walker obtained an injury in the training camp.

Walker is nursing a groin strain and is currently considered “week-to-week” by head coach Pete Caroll. Caroll stated that the injury wasn’t severe, and Walker’s condition wasn’t dire. They’re also exercising caution to prevent worsening the issue. Walker’s absence could open the door for Charbonnet to make his mark. He can seize the opportunity and perform well during the preseason.

Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback, Joe Burrow, is facing an extended recovery from a calf strain sustained during a non-contact injury on July 27. Calf injuries can be tricky, and according to head coach Zac Taylor, Burrow will require several weeks to recuperate. Calf strains vary in recovery times, typically ranging from a week or two, to eight to ten weeks.

The incident occurred when Burrow hobbled and eventually went down during a practice drill. Although he briefly returned to the practice field on August 9, he remained watching on the sidelines. Given the cautious approach to Burrow’s return and the potential for a worsening condition, many should monitor Burrow’s recovery closely to watch over his state.

Kadarius Toney

The Kansas City Chiefs faced an unfortunate setback at the onset of training camp. The wide receiver Kadarius Toney sustained a knee injury during his opening practice. Chief’s head coach, Andy Reid, disclosed that Toney had undergone surgery for a torn meniscus

It’s not Toney’s first time experiencing a setback due to an injury in his NFL Career. He had only played 19 out of 37 possible games due to various health issues. Notably, Toney had already undergone knee surgery in May 2022.

Despite the early timing of the injury in training camp, Toney’s recovery timeline remains ambitious. There’s a possibility that Toney will be recovered enough to join the Chief’s Week 1 match against the Detroit Lions. At least, that’s what was expected from Coach Reid. Still, it’s almost certain he’ll be absent in the preseason games.

Zack Moss

Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts running back, sustained a broken arm during training camp. The injury will keep him off the field for approximately six weeks until he’s well-recovered. Moss was originally a third-round pick from the University of Utah in the 2020 NFL Draft and spent over two seasons with the Buffalo Bills before being traded to the Colts in exchange for Nyheim Hines.

Moss’s injury comes as the Colts navigate uncertainties, with star running back Jonathan Taylor’s future in question due to a trade request. In the interim, third-year back Deon Jackson is temporarily leading the Colts’ running back depth chart.
