Breaking: XFL will not have a tiered pay scale, 90 % of their league will make a 55k base salary

There have been tons of rumors being spread about the XFL and their pay scale. There have been rumors that the franchise players will make 250k per season, there have been rumors that there are going to be four tiers and players will make anywhere from 50-70 thousand, well we at NFL Draft Diamonds reached out to the XFL and this is the text we receieved back.

No tier system 90% of our league will be paid the 55k. We will have a select few players, mostly QBs, making more.

This is not bad, however it is not a lot. The CFL does pay a bit more but there are some differences. Once a player signs with the XFL they are locked into their contract until the end of the season which ends in late April.

When playing in the CFL you need a passport, you have to sign a 2 year or 3 year deal. If you are an aging veteran why would you want to sign with the CFL when you can get film from the XFL and only have to commit to the end of the season. The NFL Draft takes place in late April, but NFL teams can sign veterans before and during the draft.

The XFL is also offering a 401k program, Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and 55k per season. That is a great little start up for a player trying to get to the NFL. So this is just to clear up the rumors.
