Continuing with our scouting notes series tonight we look at a young man who is considered to be the best player on his team. He is a senior this year and has been named to the watch list. Here are my notes:

Storm Barrs-Woods, RB, 6’0, 203 Lbs. Oregon St, (RS Senior)

The Positives

1) An excellent receiving back

2) He runs with good vision

3) Shows the ability to break some tackles

4) A patient runner who allows his blocks to be set up

The Negatives

1) Like many collegiate RB’s he must improve his pass blocking.

2) Does not appear to have great speed

Storm Barr-Woods is a running back who has decent NFL size and has been named to the national watch list. He runs with good patience and vision, allowing his blockers to set up the blocks and then hitting the hole once it opens up. He has good but not great speed, and he does show the ability to break some tackles. He is an excellent receiving back, whether that be out of the back field or running routes. He will need to improve his run blocking if he wants to see any significant playing time at the next level. Last season Woods started 8 out 10 games, and rushed for 766 yards and 5 TD’s. He also had 26 catches for 179 yards and one touchdown. While those aren’t necessarily stellar numbers they are a preview of what he is capable of. He has the skillset to succeed depending on what kind of offense he ends up in, and being a young player he is still improving. With a productive year he should hear his name called in next Aprils NFL draft.
