Former Ohio State Football Player Arrested for Reportedly Strangling his Girlfriend

A former Ohio State football player has been arrested in Columbus, accused of strangling his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.
Michael Roen McCullough, 25, was charged Friday with one count of strangulation. Court documents show Columbus police responded around 9 p.m. to an incident on Marconi Boulevard.
The victim, identified as McCullough’s girlfriend, told officers the altercation began the previous morning while the two were driving home. She alleged McCullough broke her cell phone, punched her several times in the face, grabbed her by the throat, and pushed her against the car window.
According to court records, the woman said she lost consciousness during the assault and only remembers regaining awareness once they arrived home. Officers noted visible injuries, including a black eye, cut, swollen lip, and bruising on her throat consistent with her account.
McCullough was booked into the Franklin County Jail on Saturday. He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Franklin County Municipal Court, records show.
McCullough was a walk-on long snapper at Ohio State from 2018 to 2020.
