What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I started playing when I was about five, and I’ve loved it ever since. I tried a few other sports growing up, but nothing gives me the feeling that football does.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My first college touchdown vs Arizona State, in that moment I felt all the work I’d put in up to that point was all worth it.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mother, Freda Porter. She always puts everyone else’s needs before her own, especially my sister’s and mine. She’s been a mail carrier for the Postal Service for over twenty years and gets up at 6 a.m. to commute to work almost every day, rain or shine. Her drive to provide the best life she could for our family is unmatched. She inspires to keep going, no matter how I may feel in the moment because the work must get done regardless.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

As a team, building off of our last season. We have a lot of returning starters back and I’m looking forward to our growth as a unit. We let a couple games get away from us last year so I’m excited to continue to make strides as a whole and put everything together because I know we can be special.

Personally, I’m looking forward to showing the growth I’ve made as a player from last year to now. I want to put my ability on tape and prove that I have what it takes to play this game at the highest level.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

Marvin Harrison, he’s one of my favorites to ever play the position. I would love to pick his brain about certain nuances of the game and learning what steps he took to continue getting better year after year.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Findlay?

The camaraderie, since I’ve stepped on campus I’ve been welcomed with nothing but open arms. I’m grateful for every relationship I’ve made over this past year and it’s easily my favorite part about being on this team

What should we know about Delon Hurt the person?

Above all I’m a man of faith, without it I am nothing. I’m someone who is driven, resilient, and I take pride in my work no matter the task or job. Lastly I’m family-oriented man who strives to be the best son, brother, and friend I can be to those I love.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

The West Coast Offense. It allows me to get into a rhythm with the quarterback early and run a wide variety of routes, which is one of my biggest strengths. That said, I can adapt and be an asset in any scheme a team runs

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

In life, I lean on my Christian faith. It’s the foundation that’s helped me overcome every obstacle I’ve faced, and I always come out stronger on the other side.

When it comes to football, I do the same. But I also have friends and mentors who’ve played this game at a high level so I’m able to turn to them for advice whenever I’m faced with something tough on the field.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A passionate competitor who loves the game and doesn’t take it for granted. A physical and savvy wide receiver who can line up outside or in the slot, as well as a player who can add value on all special teams.

What stands out about your film the most?

My ability to go up and attack the football. When the ball is in the air, it’s mine.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Sam Weihrauch. Since the day I arrived, he’s been one of the hardest workers on the team. He’s the heart of our defense—tough, smart, and physical. He brings everything you want in a linebacker, and I can’t wait to see him shine again this season.
