What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Football has always been a major part of my life. I started tackle football in the 4th grade and loved the game ever since. The combination of competition, discipline, and the relationships you build with your teammates is what it is all about. I enjoy the process of working toward a goal, pushing myself to get better, and being a part of something bigger than myself.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

One of my favorite memories was my sophomore year when we played Rose-Hulman. I had two interceptions in the game, and we were able to win the conference championship. That was a special moment because of everything our team had worked for throughout the season. Another memorable experience was the opportunity to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. We were served a nice dinner, and being able to play on that field was a truly special experience.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

This is a very difficult question because so many people in my family have supported me. If I had to choose one person, I would say my dad. He has been there for me every step of my journey. I would not be where I am today without his support, guidance, and sacrifices.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

What I love most is being around my teammates every day. There is something special about going to work with a group of guys and pushing each other in the weight room, at practice, and on game days. Football creates a unique bond because you are willing to work and fight alongside the people next to you.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

I would choose Luke Kuechly. He was one of the most intelligent linebackers to ever play the game. I would love to spend a day picking his brain, asking him questions, and learning how he studied the game and prepared mentally and physically.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Mount Saint Joseph?

The coaching staff is one of my favorite things about playing at Mount St. Joseph. I have developed a great relationship with my defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, and he is one of the smartest coaches I have ever been around. I have learned a lot from him, both about football and about what it means to be a leader and a teammate. I also have built some of the closest relationships with my teammates. That is what makes football so special. It is the people you are with every day throughout the season and in the weight room.

What should we know about Luke Paff the person?

I am a disciplined person, who loves football and is always looking for ways to get better. I take a lot of pride in my work ethic and preparation. Whether it is football, school, or another challenge in life, I try to be consistent, dependable, and willing to put in the work necessary to reach my goals.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I enjoy playing in the scheme we run at the Mount (4-2-5). I like using 4 down linemen, 2 linebackers, and we use a star. This scheme is versatile and I can play downhill against the run, cover in space, or make plays in different areas of the field.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I rely on the same principles that have helped me throughout my life: stay disciplined, remain consistent, and keep working. My family has always been a major source of support for me, especially during challenging times. On the football field, I focus on what I can control. I do not let one bad play or one difficult moment define me. I learn from it, make corrections, and move on to the next play. Our defense coordinator always says, “play the next play.” I try to approach challenges in life the same way.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get someone who is disciplined, hardworking, dependable, and passionate about football. I am willing to do whatever is asked of me to help the team succeed. I take pride in preparing, being accountable, and making the people around me better. Most importantly, I love the game and am willing to put in the work necessary to continue improving.

What stands out about your film the most?

I believe in my ability to cover ground quickly. I am able to read, react, and get to the football quickly. I trust my instincts to recognize what is happening on the field so I can make plays fast.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

I would say Brady Pierce is one of the most talented and athletic players I have played with. He plays with great instincts, ball skills, and recognition for the game. His ability to recognize what is happening and make plays instantly is impressive. I think he is a very underrated player.
