Former NFL football player took his own life at the age of 38

Former NFL offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Jordan Devey has died at the age of 38.
A GoFundMe page created to support Devey’s family states that he died by suicide.
“Tragically, Jordan took his own life, leaving his family to navigate an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time,” the fundraiser states.
In an interview with Fox 13 in Salt Lake City, Devey’s mother, Leslie, said the family believes he may have suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma. However, because of the circumstances surrounding his death, the family said they will not be able to have his brain examined to confirm the diagnosis.
Following his passing, Devey’s wife, Lindsay, shared a heartfelt photo of her husband in his hospital bed on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary.
Devey entered the NFL in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Memphis, signing with the Baltimore Ravens. After spending the offseason with Baltimore, he joined the New England Patriots’ practice squad before the start of the regular season.
He made his NFL debut in 2014, appearing in seven games while making four starts for the Patriots during their Super Bowl XLIX championship season. Over the course of his NFL career, Devey also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals.
