Former Penn State Wide Receiver Julian Fleming Charged in Fatal ATV Crash That Killed Girlfriend
Former Penn State football player Julian Fleming, 24, is facing multiple charges stemming from a tragic ATV crash in May that left his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd, 23, dead and him seriously injured.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred on the night of May 22 along a rural road in Bradford County, near the Pennsylvania–New York border. Investigators say the ATV struck a deer, causing the vehicle to crash.
Court documents obtained by TMZ Sports indicate that Fleming’s blood-alcohol level was .118 shortly after the accident. As a result, he has been charged with homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and aggravated assault by vehicle.
Fleming’s attorney, David Bahuriak, told TMZ Sports that the charges are unwarranted.
“In my view, the prosecution here took a tragic and unavoidable accident and turned it into a crime when the facts don’t support that,” Bahuriak said. “The facts don’t support criminal homicide.”
According to police reports cited by The Citizens’ Voice, neither Fleming nor Boyd was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the fatal incident remains ongoing.
