BACKGROUND: Terrance Ferguson grew up in Littleton, Colorado and signed with Oregon as a 4 star tight end recruit. Playing all four years with the Ducks, Terrance’s production grew each year and earned both First team All-Pac 12 (2023) and Third team All-Big Ten (2024). This past season, Terrance hauled in 43 receptions for 591 yards and 3 touchdowns. In his Oregon career, he hauled in 134 receptions for 1537 yards and 16 touchdowns.
COMBINE STATS:
- 40 yard dash: 4.63 s
- 10 yard split: 1.55 s
- Vertical Jump: 39″
- Broad Jump: 10’2″
STRENGTHS: Terrance possesses an imposing frame for the position, giving him a physical edge in both run and pass blocking. He flashes strong potential as a blocker and is a reliable yards-after-the-catch receiver, frequently using his size to shed tacklers. He demonstrates solid body control when adjusting to off-target throws and shows good overall athleticism, highlighted by his 4.63-second 40-yard dash. Terrance also has a natural instinct for finding soft spots in coverage when the quarterback scrambles, making him a reliable option in off-script situations.
WEAKNESSES: Terrance has struggled at times with concentration drops, which have shown up on multiple occasions. His blocking technique needs refinement, as he often fails to position himself properly, leaning too far and losing balance. He lacks explosiveness in his route running and shows only adequate burst off the line. Despite his impressive size, he doesn’t consistently win contested catches the way you’d expect from a player with his physical tools.
SUMMARY: In my opinion, Terrance is a late Day 2 pick going somewhere in the third round. Teams will love his frame, potential in the blocking game, and using his athleticism to get some yards after the catch. He can be a reliable TE2 with potential to develop into a solid starter.
Teams who he fits:
Miami Dolphins: While Jonnu Smith has turned into TE1 in Miami, the Dolphins can use some good depth at the position. Ferguson is a good YAC receiver, and that is one thing that fits Mike McDaniel’s offense.
San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers need to develop a good tight end to go alongside George Kittle. Ferguson’s athleticism will be helpful in giving Brock Purdy a reliable weapon, and Ferguson can develop his blocking skills learning from the best blocking tight end in the NFL right now.
Tennessee Titans: The Titans are most likely going to take Cam Ward #1 overall. It would be smart for them to give Ward a safety value who can develop with him. Ferguson can give the Titans another athletic weapon to go alongside Chigoziem Okonkwo.
