2026 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Tamatoa Falatea, WR, Princeton
- Name: Tamatoa Falatea
- Position: Wide Receiver
- College: Princeton
Who is the NFL player you compare yourself the most to? Why is that?
In terms of football, I’d say Amon-Ra St. Brown. He’s not necessarily the fastest guy on the field, but he’s explosive, sharp with his route-running, extremely reliable and mentally locked in every snap. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and does all the little things right – making big plays to blocking to studying film and leading his team. I’m quick and agile, I understand spacing, leverage and how to create separation without relying purely on speed. I’ve studied the game deeply, and I prepare like a professional. I take pride in being where I’m supposed to be, making plays in tight windows and being a guy QBs can trust especially when it matters most.
What aspects of playing in the NFL do you find to be intriguing?
I want to be the best and the only way to become that is to compete with the best, every day. That’s something that excites me about the NFL. It’s the highest level of competition and the chance to help a team compete for a Super Bowl – that’s what drives me. I work hard, smart and consistent to improve in every area of my game. I’ve treated every day like a professional since I can remember – showing up early, staying late, studying film, training, and preparing like a professional no matter my role. I thrive in environments built on accountability, intensity and a shared goal and I love the idea of being surrounded by elite athletes who are just as locked in. That level of pressure brings out the best in me – and I’m ready to attack that.
In what ways have you improved since last season?
I’ve made major strides in different key areas. Physically, I’ve worked hard on improving my speed, trimming unnecessary body fat and becoming even more explosive in and out of breaks. I’m naturally strong, but I’ve also focused on functional strength and durability to stay healthy and efficient. On the mental side, I’ve elevated my understanding of the game – not just the playbook wise, but also defensive tendencies, coverage disguises, and situational awareness. I’m more prepared, confident, and continuing to get better every day.
What is your favorite memory so far as a college football player?
I’d say one of my favorite memories was scoring my first college touchdown. The defensive lineman jumped offsides, and I immediately recognized it – I was prepared and locked into our “free play” rules, so I took off downfield knowing we were going to take a shot. I was able to go up and snag the ball out of the air over the defender and score. What made it special was knowing that we applied all the reps, film study, and situational work in that moment. It also happened to be the first touchdown of the season, which set the tone – but for me, it was just the beginning of what I know I’m capable of doing and made me hungry for more.
What is the most important thing you would like NFL scouts, coaches, and general managers to know about you?
I want them to know they’re not just getting a talented receiver – they’re getting a true professional who’s confident, purpose-driven, and consistent. My LDS faith has helped shape my character, discipline and the way I lead both on and off the field. I’m self-motivated, detail-oriented and dependable. Since day one, I’ve carried myself like I belong at the highest level. I believe in my ability to compete in the NFL and help a team win – whether that’s through production, leadership or raising the standard in the room. I’ve put everything into this game and I’m ready to prove that daily!!
