BACKGROUND: Jarquez Hunter slowly became one of Auburn’s best players throughout the past couple of seasons. Signing with Auburn in 2021, he became Tank Bigsby’s backup his first two seasons before taking over as the starter going into his junior year. Earning 2nd team All-SEC after rushing for 909 yards, Jarquez ran for 1201 yards his senior year adding 8 touchdowns on the ground while getting a receiving touchdown.

- 40 yard dash: 4.44 s
- 10 yard split: 1.58 s
- Vertical Jump: 33.5 in
- Broad Jump: 10 in
STRENGTHS: Jarquez is a running back who is not afraid of contact when running the ball. He fights through contact, which results in him getting some good yards after contact. He has great balance, and immense strength in his lower half. Jarquez has great vision, seeing lanes open up and accelerate through the hole. He shows willingness in becoming a check down option for quarterbacks as well as blitz pickups. He also will give teams experience on special teams, both returning the ball and being a gunner.
WEAKNESSES: Jarquez has tight hips, limiting his ability to cut and turn when running the ball. He has below-average burst, which shows when he becomes more of a physical back. He needs to work on his positioning when picking up the blitz, as he is not in good position when doing so. He has average acceleration, both in between and outside the tackles. He can work on ball security as well, having 7 career fumbles in college football.
SUMMARY: In a deep running back class, Jarquez fits more into the Day 3 range but can still be a good pickup for teams. He can offer teams a physical runner who generates a ton of yards after contact and someone who has experience with special teams. He can be a good depth piece and potentially earn a couple of carries per game. There are a couple of teams who can use Hunter on their roster.
TEAM FITS:
Washington Commanders-Both Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson are going to be free agents next year. Hunter can be the team’s RB3 and give Jayden Daniels a potential weapon.
Denver Broncos-Sean Payton had success in New Orleans with Mark Ingram, who plays a similar style to Jarquez Hunter. Hunter can be a good depth piece, and give Payton a weapon to utilize in his offense.
Las Vegas Raiders-The Raiders had the worst rushing offense last year, and Pete Carroll is determined to establish a strong ground game. There’s a good chance the Raiders will draft a running back in the earlier rounds, but doubling down at the position wouldn’t hurt. Hunter brings valuable special teams experience and the kind of physicality that Carroll loves to see in his running backs.
