2025 Senior Bowl Preview: Quarterbacks

The 2025 Senior Bowl is quickly coming to the forefront of every NFL front office. This year is no different from any offseason as the premier college all-star event begins. The event will repeat the multi-coaching format from previous years. Cleveland Browns Special Teams Coordinator Bubba Ventrone and Giants OC Mike Kafka will serve as head coaches. Adaptability and versatility will be the name of the game for these 120+ prospects. We will examine each position’s top stars and sleepers who could rise on the boards. The passers from last year’s event had varying degrees of success, and most garnered big reps. Which 2025 Senior Bowl quarterbacks will make their marks?

Quarterback

1. Jaxson Dart | Ole Miss

2. Taylor Elgersma | Wilfrid Laurier (Canada)

3. Dillon Gabriel | Oregon

4. Seth Henigan | Memphis

5. Will Howard | Ohio State

6. Riley Leonard | Notre Dame

7. Jalen Milroe | Alabama

8. Tyler Shough | Louisville

Big Names

Riley Leonard

The trio of big names has two of the most accomplished collegiate passers in the sport’s history. Leonard has been on the radar of NFL teams for several seasons but has made the jump with Notre Dame. He led the Fighting Irish to the cusp of a national title before falling to the newly crowned champion Buckeyes. The Irish star has the physical tools and confidence to become an efficient starter at the NFL level. Notre Dame’s passer does have a medical file that teams will pore over. If he continues to show off his skills in Mobile, he can cement himself as a Day 2 selection.

Dillon Gabriel

Gabriel led the Ducks to a Big Ten championship and a playoff appearance while garnering a third-place finish in the Heisman Trophy race. He’s been a productive and accurate passer at three different programs. The former Duck is the all-time leader in starts and is tied for first all-time in touchdown passes. Physically, he isn’t the most remarkable, but he is a master of the short to intermediate passing game. He doesn’t run often but can use his legs sufficiently to threaten defenders. Teams could look past his shortcomings and draft him in the early to middle stages of Day 3 with a good week.

Jalen Milroe

Milroe might be the most physically gifted passer in the 2025 class. When he’s on, he’s a true game-breaker. The former Bama quarterback has a strong arm and could put up monster numbers in the Combine testing. However, he didn’t finish 2024 on a strong note and needs a huge week to recover his lost stock. There was speculation that he would return to school, but he declared for the draft. Can he be the quarterback to show up at the 2025 Senior Bowl?

Top Prospects

Will Howard

Howard is fresh off an epic national championship run that has cemented his legacy in Buckeyes lore. After struggling to gain traction at Kansas State, he transferred to Ohio State for his final season. WH has all the physical attributes teams seek in a passer, including size and mobility. While Howard isn’t the most fleet of foot, he can manage his pocket well and make on-time throws. His athleticism presents opposing defenses with a threat to deal with. He has sufficient arm strength to make the throws, and after his run to the title, teams should return to the tape to reevaluate his stock. The former Buckeyes signal-caller has a good opportunity to rise as high as the second round with a good week.

Jaxson Dart

Dart needs a serviceable week to offset consistency concerns, as Lane Kiffin’s system is very user-friendly. The Florida game was an all-around disaster for the Rebels, but no one was more damaged than Dart in that contest. He rebounded in the bowl game but closed the season very inconsistently. Physically, he doesn’t have a howitzer arm but compensates with accuracy. The Ole Miss passer was highly productive and has the creative arm talent to escape sticky situations. If he has a good week, he could climb into the early stages of Day 3.

Sleepers

Seth Henigan

Henigan has a chance to impress the scouts in attendance but will face a steep road to draft viability in an almost universally panned class. He was the first true freshman to start his first game in Memphis history and didn’t relinquish the job. The former Memphis Tiger doesn’t have all the physical tools but has played a lot of football, so there isn’t much he hasn’t seen. Henigan is a serial winner and consistent producer with over 14,000 yards and 104 touchdowns to his credit. He won’t wow anyone with a cannon arm or dazzling speed; he’s very nuanced and steady in his game. Initially, the Tigers legend was slated to participate in the East-West Shrine Game but went with the Senior Bowl instead. He could sneak into the Day 3 conversation with a good 2025 Senior Bowl showing among the quarterbacks.

Taylor Elgersma

Elgersma is a last-minute addition to the Senior Bowl festivities and is making history as a result. He is the first Canadian university quarterback to be invited to the all-star event. The Canadian signal-caller previously attended the College Gridiron Showcase and earned the promotion to Mobile. While some teams will get their first look at this prolific passer from America’s northern neighbors, he isn’t a new name. NFL Draft Diamonds did interview him in the summer of 2024.
