Detroit Lions cut a football player after getting arrested
Detroit Lions have made a statement by cutting a player who was arrested on Saturday.
Brandon Joseph, a 23-year-old safety, was reportedly arrested for suspicion of driving a vehicle under the influence. He was reportedly pulled over for speeding early on Saturday morning. Joseph, an undrafted signing out of Northwestern and Notre Dame, was then taken into custody.
According to police reports, Joseph was busted after he was caught speeding on Michigan Avenue. Police discovered that Joseph was under the influence at the time and made the arrest.
The 23-year-old signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played in 14 games this season, having spent time on both the Lions’ active roster and practice squad over recent years.
Detroit also released wide receiver Maurice Alexander and waived defensive lineman David Bada with an injury settlement.
Meanwhile, the Lions activated safety Ifeatu Melifonwu from injured reserve on Saturday, putting him a step closer to making his season debut.
