Rams receiver Demarcus Robinson arrested in L.A. on suspicion of DUI
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, known for his speed on the field, found himself in trouble off it early Monday morning. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that Robinson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after being caught driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph on US-101 northbound in Woodland Hills, California.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:13 a.m., less than 12 hours after Robinson scored a touchdown in the Rams’ hard-fought loss to the Philadelphia Eagles during “Sunday Night Football.” Robinson’s performance in the game included three receptions for 41 yards, showcasing his value as a key target for quarterback Matthew Stafford this season. Over his career, Robinson has accumulated over 2,400 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, primarily during his six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he also earned a Super Bowl ring in 2019.
According to a statement from CHP-West Valley, officers spotted a white Dodge sedan speeding on the freeway. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers observed “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment” from Robinson, leading to his arrest. Details regarding Robinson’s blood alcohol content or additional charges have not yet been disclosed.
The Rams organization has not issued a formal statement regarding the incident as of now, leaving Robinson’s immediate future with the team unclear. This marks a significant off-field issue for the wide receiver, who joined the Rams in 2023 as part of their efforts to rebuild their offense.
Robinson, 29, is a veteran in the league, known for his ability to contribute as a dependable role player and deep threat. His arrest, however, raises questions about his judgment and professionalism, casting a shadow over an otherwise notable career.
As the legal process unfolds, Robinson faces potential disciplinary action from both the NFL and the Rams, which could impact his availability for upcoming games. The NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy typically enforces penalties, including suspensions, for players found guilty of DUI offenses.
