Player Summary

Senior from Tampa, FL. Plays outside corner/deep third safety for Brown, but exclusively in off coverage. Good length, slender frame. Going to test very well in speed and jumping. Very twitchy. Smooth in backpedal. Fluid hips. Moves very well in coverage. Excels in man coverage, stays on the hip of almost every receiver he faces at his level. Has a tendency to bite hard on double moves in an effort to make a play on the ball. Also shows some struggles in passing receivers off in zone. Able to contrast his body and make adjustments to the ball in the air. Good form to secure the interception before contacting the receiver or ground. Willing to come down and be physical in run support, but form is sloppy. Does a nice job of maintaining outside contain. Takes great angles in pursuit of the ball carrier. Dives and grabs at ankles. Needs to do a better job of keeping his head on the outside hip of the ball carrier. While mostly successful in his tackling attempts at his level, this will need work to find similar success at the professional level.

Scheme Fit:

While he can be a capable outside corner, he has more upside as a nickel at the next level due to twitch and run support upside.

Power Statement:

Reed is a big fish in a small pond with NFL traits, but his game stands out against lesser competition. With a great showing in the all-star circuit, I could see him catching the attention of NFL scouts and playing into an early day 3 pick.
