Player Summary

Redshirt Senior from San Jose, California. Had an incredible career at King’s academy as a two way player, earning himself a spot with Fresno State. Got quality playtime his first 3 college seasons after redshirting in 2019, and then transferring to Texas Tech prior to the 2023 season. Lux is an undersized DB with below average height, weight, and appears to be lacking length. Displays above-average athleticism with impressive COD, good hip fluidity, solid short area acceleration, and adequate lateral quickness. Below-average at the LOS when asked to play jam techniques, loses leverage due to being easily manipulated with foot-fire and hesitation moves. Good in man coverage, stays in phase vs vertical patterns and is solid getting eyes flipped so he can make a play on the ball. Plays with impressive anticipation vs routes in short/intermediate area of the field. Shows off his above-average COD and fluidity when driving on a ball underneath, taking an effective path to meet the ball at the target point. Solid ball skills, can make a play and has decent hands when he is in phase and on top of the crossing WR. Struggles playing the ball when in trail position due to his overall length. Marginal playing in zone technique, has adequate lateral quickness, loses cushion and struggles to keep his leverage leading to his face getting crossed vs WR’s with average separation quickness. Better than expected in run support for his stature, shows comfortability with stepping into the tackle box, meeting the RB in space to make a 1v1 tackle with solid form. Adequate open field tackler, can get his tackles broken due to overall play strength, needs to come in with some momentum to consistently bring down skill players in space.

Scheme Fit

Nickel in man to man scheme or match zone principles

Power Statement:

Lux plays with the anticipation skills that can translate in professional football, nickelback is where I project him to play because of the skills he has shown on tape vs the run while maintaining awareness in coverage vs the pass.
