What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I look at me and my family situation of struggling and I could make it out easy through playing ball going to get my education paid for free was helping my mother a lot.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Creating memories with my guys upfront because when I’m done with football they would be a call away.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My grandma’s and aunties and uncle’s because when I didn’t have any name in football I had my family in my corner.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
First getting this weight down, secondly leading my young offensive linemen in the right way making sure when I depart from Alcorn they will be straight to stand on their own. Three make sure I leave my mark on Alcorn’s football program.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and wh?
I’ll say Trent Williams because the dude is just different at his craft. I’ll ask questions and take notes because his perfection on the game of football is just phenomenal.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Alcorn State?
Here at Alcorn State I got my first shot at the college level. I’m very thankful for that opportunity. Alcorn is working towards a greatness environment for players that have a chip on there shoulders and family support with the fans. Take you under there wings and guide you the brave way. Game day at Alcorn State is like no other SWAC school. It’s is so packed you can’t hear yourself breathe. I love every second of it I wouldn’t change it for the world.
What should we know about Demarcus Gordon the person?
I’m a great person. I try my best to reach out to the local youth and teach them the right way of the game of football. I was that same kid that needs that extra person in my ear to bring the best out of me.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite scheme is the tackle and guard gap scheme. The guard kick DE and the tackle wraps up to the LB. RB hits off the tackle one on one with the safety.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
How I handle challenges, well my point is control what you can control. If I can’t control it then it’s out my hands let God take care of the matter at hand.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get an accountable and high motor player with a sense of defensive scheme picking up blitzes and recognizing the twists and alignments.
What stands out about your film the most?
Getting active against other teams and make sure I play with high levels of destruction towards the opponent.
