High School Football Coach dies due to shortage of Chemotherapy Drug
A beloved high school football coach from Wisconsin has passed away. Jeff Bolle a very high touted high school football coach lost his battle with stage four cancer due to a nationwide shortage of essential chemotherapy drugs.
The Marquette University High School football coach was unable to get cisplatin a huge chemotherapy drug which there seems to be a shortage on since December.
Cisplatin is one of two chemotherapy drugs that are still “listed in shortage,” but last year the FDA began allowing imports of the drug to help alleviate some of the strain.
Last summer, NBC News reported that 14 drugs used in cancer treatment were hard to come by. In April 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website indicates that 15 oncology agents are currently in shortage.
This sounds like a serious issue around the USA concerning chemotherapy medications. Please keep the Bolle family in your prayers during this tough time.
