Kirk Cousins talks to reporters on what he was told the night of the draft

Kirk Cousins knows what it is like to have compeition. The Falcons quarterback was just paid by the Atlanta Falcons and was expected to be the guy in Atlanta when on draft night they selected a QB ith the 8th pick.
I think the move caught everyone off guard. I personally did not have the Falcons selecting Michael Penix Jr. with the 8th pick, but it did not shock Cousins.
Cousins was asked about the draft pick and he was pretty straight forward.
“I was at the team event at the stadium, was just driving back and they called me and said, ‘We’re going to take a quarterback here,’ and I’m like, ‘OK.’ It was pretty straightforward,” Cousins said. “Really if you know my story, this is more the norm of the journey.”
While Cousins is a leader and a good man, I think he will be a great leader for Penix.
“I think it’s so important that the quarterback room is just working together to help one another succeed. And that’s the way it’s always been, that’s the way it always needs to be, no matter what the names are in the room.”
“We need to all be working together to help one another be the best we can be,” he concluded.
I like the answer, Cousins is a better starter right now, but Penix can be a great one. So this move make sense. Do you agree?
