WATCH: Rob Gronkowski’s first pitch at the Boston Red Sox game was EPIC
Rob Gronkowski had a legendary career in Boston with the New England Patriots, so when he was asked to throw out the first pitch of the Red Sox game, you would have never guessed what happened.
Gronk found a way to make one of the NFL’s oldest and simplest touchdown celebrations — the spike — famous again. He did this not through a clever twist or innovative move, but because he’s big as hell and found the end zone a lot. 107 times in nine seasons as a pro, in fact.
I mean Gronk is smart, I have watched several players throw out their first pitch and it usually is pretty embarrassing. They throw the ball into the dirt like Josh Allen, or some throw it wild, and it goes past the catcher. Gronk kept it simple, and it ended up working out well. The fans in Boston loved it and went bananas after throwing it into the dirt.
It was an epic first pitch from the greatest tight end in NFL history. The Gronk spike on a baseball diamond is the one thing we didn’t realize we needed until it actually happened.
