Former NFL executive crushes NFL in arbitration and wins 3 million dollars for retaliation and defamation

Terry McDonough who was recently in the news for assaulting his neighbor just won a huge arbitration case against the NFL.
According to the court documents, McDonough claimed unlawful retaliation under the Arizona Employment Protection Act, intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation, and invasion of privacy.
McDonough won and won big too!
According to the reports, he won 3 million dollars. He won $600,000 in emotional distress damages and $150,000 in damage to his reputation. The arbitrator also awarded McDonough a whopping $2.25 million in punitive damages against the Cardinals.
This is a very rare win, the NFL usually does a good job at winning these battles, which means the case could be pretty cut and dry. Maybe the NFL did in fact retaliate.
The Cardinals released this statement:
“We are pleased with the arbitrator’s decision dismissing all of Terry McDonough’s employment claims and finding that there was nothing improper about his dismissal from the team,” the team said. “As for Mr. McDonough’s other claim, we respect the arbitrator’s determination that our initial statement went too far. We accept responsibility for that statement and are grateful that the arbitration is now resolved.”
