What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I decided to be a football player not only the love of the game, but when I’m on the field it’s like an escape from reality. I feel like I’m in a world where nothing else really matters but the ball. Also, the brotherhood it brought to my life and the relations the game brings. I also made a promise to my cousin who passed away from cancer that she could live through me and I dedicated my career and the way I play to her, Kyla Loomis.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moments from my football life, have to be the team activities. Football is a sport that brings in diverse individuals and molds us into a unit. The relationships throughout my football life are by far my favorite moments. Also, game days and the excitement it brings, playing in front of people and allowing them to watch art.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I am looking to achieve hope for the youth all over the world. Showing them no matter what life throws at you, you can prosper. Overall be a positive influence on and off the field.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
If I could hang out with any football player past or present it would be any member from the Legion of Boom but probably Kam Chancellor, because of the way he plays the game from his physicality to his knack for the ball. The game hasn’t been played with that physicality for some time now and we are also both from Virginia.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom inspires me the most, the amount of time and effort she put forth for not only me but my four sisters is truly inspirational. No matter what she would always be there. Through her numerous amount of surgeries and beating cancer, I’ve never seen her fail to provide and be there. She’s the true embodiment of a warrior and I love her to death.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
My favorite defensive scheme is a nickel set 4-2-5 allowing the safety to come into the box as a linebacker and also go out and cover as well in a true nickel position but depending on the set or play any 3 of the safeties can be the down safety. Secondly, it would probably be the dime package, which means you got the offense pinned far behind the change or just long enough to add another defensive back to the playing field. Allowing the defense to either force a turnover or cause a 4th down.
What should we know about Cam’Ron Kelly the person?
Everyone should know that Cam’Ron Kelly the person cares more than you know and wants to be a beacon to the youth. I want to be the voice and have the actions that give hope to individuals far beyond football. I am family-oriented, God-fearing, and a diligent worker.
What stands out about your film the most?
I would say what stands out in my film is my physicality and the way I attack the ball. Definitely from play recognition, and my decisiveness when the offense decides to use tempo. I have a knack for the ball and an endless pursuit which you’ll see when you turn on the film.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
How do I handle challenges in life and on the field? I always viewed challenges in life and on the field as obstacles, one has to remain calm and control what you can you can control. As well as identifying the challenge and how to tactfully manage or deal with it. That’s the beauty behind it all the way you work on certain things from either film study or technique-wise can go a long way in overcoming challenges. Also, in life as well the more tactful you are, and understanding/accepting in life events can go a long way in facing challenges in life.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a hard worker but also a locker room guy. I have a personality that brings positive energy. They are also getting a guy who is coachable and willing to learn every facet of the game and will do anything for the team’s benefit.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
What I love the most about the game of football is the brotherhood it brings to my life, because I have four sisters and I’m the youngest. So, having a brotherhood and bonds like that is undeniably what I love most about football.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The most underrated players I played with were Storm Duck and Isaac Guerendo. The reason is that they might not have always got the shine but they played pivotal roles in successes we had in a numerous amount of games. Not too many guys out there who work harder. They are great players but even better people.
