Five Biggest Winners of the 2024 NFL Draft’s First Round

The NFL Draft’s first round is over, and it was a wild one. There were some surprises and it was fun. Even though my Buffalo Bills traded back twice falling out of the first round, several teams did a terrific job at drafting. Let’s look at five of the biggest winners in the first round.

Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles – The Bears made a move last year trading out of the first pick and it ultimately became a blessing. The Bears would get to land their franchise quarterback in Caleb Williams and also land Rome Odunze one of the top rated pass catchers in the draft. I feel the Bears hit a home run. This team is going to be fun.

Daniel Jones – I am fired up for the Giants taking a weapon. This was a smart move! Everyone was saying the G-Men would take McCarthy and I felt that was a smoke screen. The Giants did the right thing by getting Daniel Jones a weapon in Malik Nabers. I think this move was a huge win for the Giants.

Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings traded up twice and landed two stars. JJ McCarthy at quarterback which was much needed and Dallas Turner who I feel is the best edge rusher. They replaced Kirk Cousins and Danielle Hunter with two future stars. This was a great draft for the Vikings. They were willing to land two of their players and do it by giving up very little.

Michael Penix Jr. – The former Washington gunslinger went Top 10. Not many in the Twitterverse thought he would go Top 13, but it is a huge blessing. I feel he is the best quarterback in the draft. The Falcons are getting dogged because he was selected when they have Kirk Cousins, but let’s be honest, this is a quarterback driven league. You better have one if you want to win. The Falcons have two now.

Philadelphia Eagles – Nick Sirianni made a move last night to take the best cornerback in the draft and it worked out. His former college roommate probably had a big push in this move. Quinyon Mitchell played for his former college roommate at Toledo and the Eagles landed the best all around corner in the draft. I think Mitchell will be a star in the making!
