Former College football player arrested for fatally shooting his Mother, thinking she was an intruder
A former college football player was arrested after he accidentally shot his mother over the weekend thinking she was an intruder.
According to police, Jaylen Johnson, a 25-year-old former college football player shot and killed his Mother, 56-year-old Monica McNichols-Johnson after she entered the back door of their home.
He shot her around 7:30 am, and immediately called the police. Johnson is employed and has no criminal history.
“He hasn’t stopped crying,” said William Goldstein, the 25-year-old man’s lawyer, to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch over the weekend.
Prosecutors charged Johnson with manslaughter and armed criminal action, and his bail was set at $100,000.
