What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I knew since a young age that my goal was to be a football player. I loved to hit people and just have that nasty attitude on the field.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moment from my football life is probably beating #2 ranked Pitt State last year at home on senior day. Was a great game and atmosphere.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My dad is probably my biggest inspiration when it comes to playing football. He played a big role in me becoming the player I am today. Taught me a lot about the game and really just how to be a technical sound offensive linemen.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

What I’m looking forward to in my upcoming season an undefeated season and a chance to go to the National Championship. Also working towards getting 1st team All-MIAA and All-American this upcoming season.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Jason Kelce would be a person I would love to hang out with for a day. That was one person I grew up watching and aspiring to be. Just the knowledge and physicality he played with was great to watch. I would pick his brain and ask him questions regarding the game.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Missouri Western?

My favorite thing about Missouri Western is the coaches and people there. Also the competition within the school. Got a lot of great players to learn from past and present.

What should people know about James Lucio the person?

What people should know about me is that I am a very outgoing person and a hard worker. Love to help people out in the community and help the younger generation any way possible.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

My favorite offensive scheme would be RPO offensive scheme. It makes it hard for the defense to stop the run and pass game. We do it here at Missouri Western and I love every bit of it.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

The way I handle challenges both in life and off the field would be talking to God. I am a firm believer in talking to God about all your problems and he will guide you onto the right path.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get a player that loves to put the work in and perfect his craft. Also would get a team player that brings everyone together and lastly, a physical and smart technical offensive linemen.

What stands out about your film the most?

One thing that stands out about my film is my athleticism and my good feet are all key things that stand out from the rest.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated player I have probably played with is an offensive linemen I played with last year. Had great body control and great feet. He was my right guard and his name was Evan Clark. He taught me a lot mentally and physically on the field last year. Him being a senior and having lots of game experience, I was able to learn a lot from him.
