Browns GM: Nick Chubb recovering well, age not a factor with Draft

Browns general manager Andrew Berry took a flurry of questions from the media at the NFL Combine on Tuesday. Chief among them was the status of running back Nick Chubb, who had a season-ending ACL tear last September against the Steelers.
“Nick is a popular discussion point,” Berry said. “He’s done a great job. He works his tail off. He does everything in his power to make sure he can recover as quickly as possible. It still is very early. We’re six months away from training camp.”
A record number of juniors declared for the NFL Draft, which Berry said is not a huge factor in terms of the evaluation process.
“We consider all the circumstances, risk factors, things that make that prospect unique,” Berry said.
Berry was asked whether the story of Qwan’Tez Stiggers – a Canadian Football League defensive back who did not go to college and declared for this year’s NFL Draft – will become a new normal with prospects entering the league after a couple of years in the CFL.
“I think that’s a one-off,” Berry said. “As you all get to know Qwan’Tez, his path and his story was pretty unique. That young man, in terms of everything he overcame and managed four or five years, has been nothing short of outstanding.”
Berry added that DeShaun Watson will begin throwing next month.
