Player Summary:

Veteran offensive tackle as a four-year starter who has been a reliable player in both pass protection and as a run blocker using his quick feet, solid lateral movement, and good AA. Has good football intelligence, competitive toughness with an aggressive blocking style.

In pass protection, Scott has quick feet which help him move laterally and get depth in his pass sets. Scotts uses quick steps to get depth and meet defenders at the apex of their rush. At the contact point, Scott often uses his body to get into defenders or attempts to shoot his hands and slow down their rush. On counter moves, Scott shows the ability to retrace and redirect his momentum with good body control, showing that he can react to counter moves, maintain balance, and stay engaged to complete the block. Scott has good range as a pass protector and has shown to be able to compete with pass rushers with great athletic ability.

In the run game, he’s able to find blocks with his explosiveness off the ball. On zone run concepts, his athletic ability allows him to properly execute cut-off blocks or reach blocks. Actively works to the second level effectively and makes contact with second-level defenders. Has solid quickness and is able to generate enough power that he can be on the front side of run plays and maintain his block long enough for the running back to get to the second level.

Needs improvement in his hand usage in pass pro, will shoot his hands but he shoots the wrong hand and it allows for defenders to knock him off balance with a counter move. Does a good job of meeting defenders at the POA but the more skilled pass rushers can beat him with hand maneuvers because he shoots the wrong hand and isn’t able to maintain his balance. He will also on occasion play high, limiting his ability to redirect and stay balanced.

Scheme Fit:

Can fit into a Pro-style offense quickly with his intelligence, AA, and overall blocking ability. Has the chance to find significant playing time early in his career and work his way into a starter role with some development to his technique and body balance issues.

Power Statement:

A good tackle who has the ability to be a starter in the NFL with a solid starting floor and solid ceiling to reach. Has a good base to work with and can improve into a better player.
