Why would Matthew Stafford’s wife admit to dating his back-up?
Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, made an odd admission this week during an appearance on Kristin Bristowe’s podcast, and it makes no sense to me.
As someone who has been married for 20 years myself, why would a wife come out to say she dated her husbands teammate years later? What do you gain from this admission?
I am not sure what she was trying to do, maybe she was trying to be cool on the podcast, but it really makes her look messed up. Here is what was said:
“At first, I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to [expletive] him off, which worked,” Kelly explained. “He was the bad boy too like Matthew’s so sweet and Southern gentleman and all that stuff and the backup was the complete opposite. And it upset him.
“They lived in the same dorm room because athletes lived in the same dorm room. He would see my car there. At one point he waited and followed me into the car. I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working.’ I was like, ‘Get out of my car.’ He was like, ‘He’s not right for you.’ I was like, ‘What? You can’t tell me that.'”
I am not here to point fingers or take shots, but after Harrison Butker’s speech, Kelly made this comment, “Building men up and not tearing them down is important. Building women and not tearing them down is important,”
Then what does she do? The homemaker of four daughters, says she slept with her husbands’ teammate. How is this building Matthew up? To be honest it is going to mess him up in societies eyes. I have already watched tons of people asking why he married her? He is going to be drug by every defensive lineman in the NFL for this podcast interview.
If I was a defensive lineman I would use it to get under his skin too. The thing now is everyone is going online to try to figure out which back-up it is. Even Lane Kiffin is trying to guess, to see if it is Joe Cox, a coach on his staff.
Now, taking a quick look at the UGA rosters during Matthew Stafford’s time in college, you’ll find Joe Tereshinski, Blake Barnes, Joe Cox, and Logan Gray.
Many feel it is Logan Gray who would eventually end up transferring to Colorado and switching to wide receiver, but this is just a bad look by Kelly. She needs to be better.
