Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman reportedly knew the team had only 10 players on the field on last play
Notre Dame fought hard against Ohio State, but on the last play of the game, Ohio State was able to get into the end zone on a delayed run and after it was shown on replay the media discovered that there were only ten players on the field. The player that was missing was a defensive lineman on the right side.
Well, after the game Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman responded to the critics saying he knew they were short and he was trying to get a fourth D-lineman on the field but he just told him to stay off.
I am not sure why you would do this, I would rather take the penalty than just give up the win.
A penalty would have made virtually no difference. The ball would have been moved up a few inches, but would have given the Fighting Irish time to get a guy on the field.
I do not get this, it just sounds like Freeman wanted to take the blame for his player rather than getting him crushed on social media.
