Former BYU star football player’s son died at 17 years old
Brady Poppinga had a great career at BYU before landing on the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately, he is going to have to bury his 17-year-old son Julius who died this week after suffering a severe asthma attack.
According to reports, Julius a star football player died on Wednesday after suffering an asthma attack that led to a collapsed lung. The young football star could not recover and would die in the hospital.
Poppinga, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound defensive end and offensive lineman, played in Westlake’s season opener vs. Taft on Aug. 18 but was unable to participate in practices for the Week 1 game vs. Agoura.
Julius was a junior at Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and also played lacrosse.
Brady Poppinga was a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 2005 and spent six of his eight seasons in the NFL in Green Bay.
