Player Summary:
Frank Gore Jr. is the son of former NFL RB Frank Gore Sr., he is a three-year starter with veteran experience at the RB position for MSSO. A durable RB showing the ability to carry a high volume of touches with zero fumbles. He has below-average NFL RB size and stature, considered as a scat back frame. Not a Bruiser-type RB or a quick and speedy elusive runner, more of a read and react with a scat-back style type of play but has some forms of variations aforementioned which accentuate the offense. Runs the ball effectively jump cuts when approaching a hole anywhere in between the tackles at the LOS, and usually falls forward when a defender is engaged at the POC. Displays good vision when locating a crease in the LOS, doesn’t accelerate through the hole, has one speed from time of snap but is elusive enough to get to the second level, open field. Does not COD as efficiently to create space for possible home run plays but it is enough for an extra gain. Doesn’t possess breakaway speed, keeps legs churning at POC in the open field, lack of stiff arm uses minimizes the rush. Displays poor run-blocking technique and does not make an effective impact on a block, usually mirrors the defender with the extension of arms allowing the defender to defeat the block if proper defender technique is applied, the same if Gore is in PP. His pass-catching abilities are average, able to locate the ball, receive it with his hands and secure it. Fundamentally for an RB catching passes out the backfield not explosive plays when receiving but enough to move the yardage or chains. Displays versatility of effectiveness in any style of offense.
Scheme Fit:
WILDCAT, PRO-SET, SINGLE BACK
Power Statement:
A small-statured, highly productive RB without the homerun speed for his size. Can be seen as a scatback, RB play is similar to Alvin Kamara, a pass catcher out of the backfield used as a Swiss-Army knife in an offense. Lacks crucial fundamental techniques in PP and run blocking. Speed of play is deceptive when playing consecutive downs, potentially indicating taking off of plays with or without the ball.
