Police Cam shows Draft Prospect Jalen Carter’s interaction with Police on the night of the fatal crash

On January 15, 2023, Athens-Clarke County police responded to a single-vehicle accident on Barnett Shoals Road. The vehicle’s occupants were all part of the University of Georgia football program, which had just celebrated its second consecutive national championship earlier in the day.
Two of the four occupants did not survive, and alcohol was later determined to be an influencing factor in the accident.
Police learned of a second vehicle, driven by top NFL prospect Jalen Carter, that had been at the scene, and after an investigation, Carter was charged with reckless driving and racing, both misdemeanors. He pled guilty to both and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 50 hours of community service.
This is a video of Carter’s interactions with the police on the night of the accident.
Carter took a phone call at one point during the conversation. He told the person on the other line that he felt like the police were trying to get him to admit to something.
Police investigators believe that Carter and Georgia recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy were “operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing” early on the morning of Jan. 15. Evidence indicated that the Ford Expedition LeCroy was driving crashed at a speed of 104 mph.
Jalen Carter was once considered the best player in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has now began slipping and some teams have already removed him from their draft board.
