If the 49ers want to make it to the Super Bowl they will need their journeyman backup to lead them after Purdy’s injury
49ers will have to rely on back-up journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson if they want to make it to the Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers have the best defense in the league, and right now it is tied 7-7, but if they want to make it to the Super Bowl they will need the former University of San Diego veteran Josh Johnson to lead them.
Brock Purdy was badly injured when he was his early in the first quarter on a pass rush and it seems to have messed up his elbow. You can see the vicious injury here.
Purdy quickly went to his coaches to let them know that he could not go. Thankfully Christian McCaffrey is on the 49ers because he has been playing lights out since Purdy’s injury.
I am going to say this, if the Niners can win and get to the Super Bowl with Johnson as their QB, then the Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan should win Coach of the Year. He has played through four quarterbacks, and if Demeco Ryans defense can stop the red-hot Eagles he better get a coaching job.
During his 15 years in the NFL, Josh Johnson has been a member of 14 different teams, the most for a player in league history. He also played in the United Football League (UFL), the Alliance of American Football (AAF), and the XFL.
Johnson played college football at San Diego and was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Primarily a backup during his career, he started for the Buccaneers, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens, while also seeing playing time with the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, and the 49ers. His longest stint has been with the Buccaneers, where he spent his first four years, and his tenures with other teams have mostly lasted no longer than one season.
If Johnson wins it would be epic.
