Sam Darnold Injury Update: Learn more about the injury from the Fantasy Doctor Dr. Jesse Morse

Seattle Seahawks fans held their breath when quarterback Sam Darnold went down with a hip injury just five plays into the 2026 season.
Darnold was sacked by Patriots defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones on Seattle’s opening possession and immediately appeared to be in significant pain. He limped off the field and was eventually ruled out of the Seahawks’ 13-10 comeback victory over New England.
At first glance, the injury looked like it could be extremely serious.
Fortunately for Darnold and the Seahawks, the quarterback appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario. Dr. Jesse Morse of The Injury Expertz took a close look at the play and explained why the injury initially raised some major concerns.
