Former USFL football star thought he was being cut by the Cowboys but instead received some great news
Former USFL star wide receiver KaVontae Turpin thought he was being cut by the Dallas Cowboys when he was called to the owners office, but the news brought him to tears.
Turpin was named to the NFC Pro Bowl roster as a kick and punt returner.
The former TCU speedster was first informed by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and Turpin could not believe it, he told reporters on Thursday that his initial reaction to getting a phone call from Jones was that he was being cut.
Turpin went undrafted out of TCU, and was not even given a shot in the NFL until he had a huge couple years overseas and then broke onto the scene with the USFL. Turpin led the USFL last year for the New Jersey Generals scoring 7 touchdowns. Turpin was named the USFL MVP so this is quite the story. You have to love it when a player perseveres to make it to the NFL and make a Pro Bowl!
